Selling your home? Gardening can help!
June 01, 2007
When looking to sell your home, the first impression of potential buyers is very important. The curb appeal can interest a buyer from the moment they arrive, or may lead them to disappointment before they even go inside. It is always best to begin with a good impression.
The use of blooming plants and bushes will enhance the beauty of your home by adding color, life and interest. For a prestigious feel, evergreen shrubs may line the pathway to your door where you can plant large topiaries in cement urns. For a more traditional look, window boxes around the porch, and hanging baskets with seasonal blooms will do the trick. The design and contents of your landscape should reflect three important aspects. First, you as the homeowner should vividly express yourself through the colors, textures and art of gardening. Next, the buyer should be considered. Who do you think will be looking to buy your home? Perhaps a family with children who would get the most use of a healthy green lawn, or maybe an older or working couple that would appreciate a low maintenance landscape. Finally, consider the neighborhood, surroundings and style of your home. A beach house might be complimented with tall grasses or flowering vines that grow around an arbor or trellis.
It is just as easy to create a charming landscape for homes with little or no room for planting with container gardens. Clustering colorful pots with lush arrangements of blooming plants can decorate the steps leading to your front door, or add color to a corner of your deck or yard.
Small improvements such as these can make a huge difference. You can never go wrong when bringing the beauty of your home outdoors for yourself and others to enjoy. A well cared for entrance speaks volumes for your home.
